  1. Compression and Power Stroke: The piston moves from Bottom Dead Center (BDC) to Top Dead Center (TDC).   2. Exhaust and Intake: As the piston moves downward, it first opens the exhaust port, allowing the exhaust gases to escape. Shortly after, it opens the intake port, and the pre-compressed mixture from the crankcase flows into the cylinder, simultaneously scavenging the remaining exhaust gases.
